I am an accidental wine journalist. I learned the delights of tasting wine from my grandfather, who nurtured his love for wine and for France through a career of importing cork. One year, I accompanied him to Portuguese cork forests and his beloved France—a watershed event for a 17-year-old from California’s Central Valley, where, in those days, a grape’s most likely fate was a raisin box. Years later, after a serendipitous sojourn in Provence, I left my career as a psychologist, launched The Modern Trobadors blog about “all things Provence,” and, later, Provence WineZineProvence WineZine, an award-winning blog about wine and winemakers.
