Sometimes patience pays off.

I first met the lovely Lynne Cole ( O’Briens wine buyer) at the largest wine fair in Europe in March of last year. Prowein takes place each year in Dusseldorf and thousands of wine producers from around the globe nervously pour glasses of wine hoping to win new business from importers, distributors and retailers from around Europe (and sometimes further afield too).  

I entered a competition at Prowein called WineStars and was lucky enough to be a winning finalist – and guess who was one of the judges. Yup, Lynne. She explained to me that O’Briens couldn’t list Mirabeau in 2013 and that she would be in touch for 2014. I made a hasty note in my calendar to give Lynne a call in the new year (because busy wine buyers never remember promises like that), but blow me down – Lynne dropped my an email at the beginning of January this year and in March O’Briens placed their first order.

I wish all business worked like that. And now Mirabeau is in 32 stores around Ireland as well as on-line.
